Q: Does Reputt work with any putting mat?
A: Reputt requires your putting mat to have a straight edge 30 cm (12 inches) or more long (most do) and a total effective thickness of 8 mm (1/3 inch) or more. For the Reputt Mini, you just need a thickness of 5-6 mm. Ofcourse, if you buy the Reputt With Mat or Reputt Mini with Mat combination, you do not need to worry about this.
Q: My mat is not 8 mm thick. How do I make my mat thickness 8 mm?
A: You could use poster boards to place below the mat. Poster boards are usually 5 mm thick and can be easily cut to suit your putting mat width and abutted together to achieve any length. Their advantage also lies in the fact that they are rigid, so allow for creation of breaks. and you can even use them to easily create breaks by raising one side using any type of spacer. The other option is to use yoga mats that are available in the market today ranging from 4 mm to 10 mm thickness to place below your existing putting mat, effectively increasing the thickness of your existing putting mat.
Q: How far back does the ball get returned?
A: The device has a tuning screw that can be rotated to increase the return distance, up to around 25 feet depending on the stimp speed of your putting mat. This allows you to adjust the distance depending on the length of your putting mat. The Reputt Mini does not have this option though and returns a standard distance of around 12-15 feet.
Q: How do I know which putts are made and which are missed?
A: The target is a recess built into Reputt that measures at 4.25 inches diameter like a standard hole in golf. It has special walls to channel in made-putts. Balls that enter the target recess and get channeled towards the center of Reputt are made putts. Balls that don't are missed putts.
Q: Aren't the collector channel arms too narrow so balls that are a little fast would bounce back onto the mat?
A: Only if the ball has been hit pretty hard. The blocking walls have been engineered to stop reasonably fast balls so in most cases the ball stays in the collector arms like in the below video.
